Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER), a thorough examination of Arboricultural lifting equipment training.

This is aimed at those people who would like to inspect lifting equipment in the arboricultural industry. The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) 1998 require that all lifting equipment is subject to regular thorough examinations by a competent person.

Overview

  • Relevant legislation and terminology
  • inspect a range of arboricultural lifting equipment
  • recognise faults/ defects in equipment competently
  • know various loads and limits involved with arboricultural rigging equipment

This is a 4 day course, followed by an oral and practical assessment.

There is a lot of theory for this course - the content is split between looking at and exploring relevant rules, regulations and legislation and examining kit.

It is suitable for people with substantial industry experience and up to date knowledge of climbing techniques and equipment.

We recommend attendees have an excellent knowledge of a variety of equipment, have practical experience of using the equipment and have the following qualifications:

Chainsaw maintenance, cross cutting and felling

Tree climbing and aerial rescue

Use of a chainsaw from a rope and harness

Aerial rigging

SRWP / SRT knowledge / qualification is useful

Training should be refreshed every 3-5 years.
