Severing Uprooted and Windblown Trees

This course is for people who are required to deal with Uprooted and/or Windblown trees in open areas, have attended the basic chainsaw courses in this series.

We run this as the Lantra Awards Training with Assessment. This is a nationally recognised qualification.

This practical course will enable candidates to correctly state the regulations and safety requirements relating to chainsaw use and assess the hazards and risks involved. By assessing lying windblown timber, partially windblown and broken timber  the candidate will be able to take a decision on appropriate action and cut the timber using appropriate techniques and control the movement of root plates.

Pre-requisites

Chainsaw maintenance, cross cutting and felling trees up to 380mm

Felling trees over 380mm

Training should be refreshed every 3-5 years.

First Aid training is also an essential part of your preparation to use chainsaws, so please look into this if you do not currently hold a relevant qualification. We are pleased to now offer an Emergency Outdoor First Aid at Work course. Ian has a wealth of first aid and trauma experience. Following discussions with him, he has created a more bespoke course for the industry – although all the skills are covered (including catastrophic bleeds and trauma), the scenarios and accidents discussed are tailored to the forestry and arb industry.
